GENERATION GAP

You are currently viewing GENERATION GAP

There is an enormous difference of viewpoints and beliefs among the people born in different years. That’s what is called the Generation gap.

Our parents believe in moral ideologies, strict social norms, and religious beliefs while we are the generation that likes to do as we please and believe in what we see. The generation gap is not just because of age but many other factors like different interests, technological changes, religious beliefs, political views, etc.

We cannot conclude who is responsible for this generation gap, the young generation or older generation. This is also not because of the growing technology. It has existed for ages & became a social stigma. Generational gaps are simply caused by age and the situation of the world at the time one generation has grown up. Therefore, the older generation is facing a tough time accepting these changes.

It makes us different from each other, but this difference should not affect our relationship. Each generation has its way of living, handling things & has seen its fair share of complications. Generation gaps can be bridged through more communication. Through which they get a chance to understand each other better and can reduce the conflict caused by the generation gap.

We can accept and respect each other’s thoughts or ideas. Young people, as well as parents, sometimes have the attitude that they can’t be wrong, which leads to conflict. George Hammond said, “The younger generation should always learn from the older — even from their mistakes.”Our parents have seen more in their lives than us. We need to listen to their valuable mentorship ideas. This does not mean that we have to lose our perspective. We can also put forward our innovative ideas.

Nowadays, parents are busy with their work and children are devoted to their studies so that they do not have time to communicate with each other frequently. These activities further weaken our relationship with our grandparents than with our parents. So, we can spend a lot of time with our parents, grandparents to bridge this gap. We can only overcome it if we work together & build a better place for coming generations.
